about

Hailing from a ramshackle corner of Essex, Kevin Pearce is breaking into the music world with his debut album 'Pocket Handkerchief Lane'.

Produced by Dean Honer (All Seeing I, I Monster, Eccentronic Research Council) who has previously worked with The Human League and Roisin Murphy (ex-Moloko), Pocket Handkerchief Lane features a unique cocktail of acoustic sounds, vintage electro FX and soaring vocals that have already seen him gain support from fellow Essex boy Steve Lamacq on his BBC Radio 2 show aswell as Tom Robinson and Stuart Maconie on BBC 6 Music.

Pocket Handkerchief Lane takes listeners on a ethereal and emotional journey while Pearce’s multi-octave vocal range is simultaneously capable of not just astonishing power, but stunning and tender expressiveness. Keeping a modern musical polymath but also demonstrating a shrewd approach to familiar folk tradition, trite comparisons to luminary troubadours like Dylan and Drake are inevitable, but Pearce commands praise in his own right.

From anthemic album opener ‘Get By’ and the stunning ‘Waste’, to the nostalgia-tinged ‘Older Times’ and the haunting beauty of album closer ‘Last Blow Out’, Pocket Handkerchief Lane, is a musical gem of a record and its release through Kevin’s own independent label, Pocket Melodies, should gain him the recognition he deserves as one of the UK’s most gifted songwriters.
